Tilt and shift isn’t difficult to do, but it can produce amazing results. This picture was taken at 300mm over Hout Bay of a real boat, with real buildings and real sea.
I love the way slective focus points plays with our minds into thinking the scene is made of plastic.

Edo and Marelize wanted some romantic, natural photos to share with friends and family, and what a perfect setting for this. The lighting is tricky because of the landscape, but when you get it right, it’s amazing!

I love the way the one perfect flower defies the wilting of the others in an almost stage-production like way.

Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town is an amazing setting – so much variety of backdrops!

I make an effort to wake up and get out earlier than most people.
In that few minutes before the day begins, life stands eerily still around you, and everything takes on an unnatural colour. White becomes blue, and red becomes purple. There are some amazing photo oppurtunities in these wee waking hours.

This was in Tokai Forest at about 3 in the afternoon. The trees dull the lighting quite a bit in the foreground and add a lot of backlight which can be tricky to work with.

This was one of those moments that unintentionally make a great photo. It wasn’t posed, and the natural pose makes it a great unintentional portrait.

The light created by two huge spotlights in a confined area made some interesting reflective photo opportunities. This was one of those. Taken with a 50mm lens with the aid of manual focus to provide the soft-focused underlighted look.

During the Argus Cycle Tour, I walked around the Noordhoek common with a 24mm Macro lens. It’s tricky with such a short lens, because the smaller wildlife are skittish and fly or run away when you get close, but this brave creature stood still long enough for me to capture it.
